How to Make The Ultimate Postpartum Gift Basket
A postpartum gift basket is one of my absolute favorite gifts to give to Mommas-to-be, and every one of them has expressed deep gratitude for this useful gift (on multiple occasions). The thought, love, and care that goes into making a postpartum gift basket is evident, but can be overwhelming. If you don’t know where to start, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite items to include in a postpartum care gift basket that is both functional and luxurious.

What I consider to be the essentials…
Sitz baths soothe and aid in recovery "down there”
Dr. Teal's is my personal favorite for healing epsom salt baths
This entire kit from Frida mom is a crowd favorite!
A good water bottle is a vital part of any postpartum care basket. Breastfeeding Mamas need to drink so much water, and this will make it easier. (I still have the one that was gifted to me in my basket!)
Another water bottle option for hyper-hydration
A microwaveable heating pad for those postpartum cramps
This belly binder is for the c-section Mamas and their recovery
Ever heard of postpartum padsicles? You can make them yourself by freezing wet pads with witch hazel on them, or buy these ones if you're strapped for time.
Tuck's witch hazel pads were the only thing that gave me long-lasting relief after having Rin! She'll probably go through the whole pack if her recovery was anything like mine.
I like to add a hair accessory that makes it easy to pull back her hair when she breastfeeds.
You could literally *never* have too many nursing bras. If I’m being totally honest, this is all I wear to this day, and only break out the supportive bra on “special” outings and occasions…my daughter is almost 3. They’re just that comfortable.
“Nice to haves” to make your Mama feel extra special…
Not an essential hair accessory, but a “cuter” way to pull her hair back when she doesn’t have the time or energy to put into styling her hair.
For Mamas who tend to get hot, I lived in a robe that someone gifted me both in the hospital and the first days home.
Sooo much nicer than the thin and uncomfortable hospital gowns, I wore this Kindred bravely delivery gown in the hospital and truly felt more like myself. Multiple nurses and other moms did a double take and complimented me on it, and - though I was a bit delusional after 19 hours of delivery - I’m pretty positive one nurse asked me for the link. They’re hospital approved too, with a hole in the back for an epidural, if you go that route!
Memory foam slippers for swollen pregnant feet? Yes please!
You can't go wrong with fuzzy slippers.
This three-piece pajama set is so functional! You don't want something that is too tight around the tummy, especially for those c-section Mamas. The breastfeeding-friendly top will be a God-send in the wee hours of the night.
I am a sucker for waffle knit pjs.
I had a pajama set just like this one after having Rin, and I wore it every day for longer than I care to admit.
Here's another pajama set for Mamas having winter babies.
Nothing (other than the Lord) calms my senses quite like a good scented candle.
Always a crowd-pleaser, these childhood journals are made for busy moms who don't have time to journal!
Another absolutely beautiful journal for documenting childhood.
And don’t forget about the actual basket…
Now it comes as no surprise, I’m sure, that a gift of this magnitude can get expensive. I suggest rallying your friends to create this incredible gift your new Mama or Mama-to-be will most certainly remember for years to come! Happy shopping!
